Regular readers know that I hated, detested, despised, and otherwise disliked and was disappointed in Windows 8 and 8.1.
Somehow, my laptop was on the top of the list for Windows 10, and I received the download the first day. Generally, I like it. It feels more like Windows 7 in many ways, but with those features of Windows 8 that had merit.
The new browser is pretty darn good. It’s better than Explorer and it doesn’t seem to be constantly stalking me like Google Chrome. Cortana, digital assistant seems well designed and I confess, I like it.
I haven’t tried some of my more unusual applications, such as those associated with ham radio equipment. Those tend to use the old 9 pin serial connectors, and these days that means I have to insert an adapter to operate it through the USB port. I’ll be trying those later, and most other people tend not to use old style hardware. (It’s not updated to USB because it needs a higher voltage, but that’s as much detail as I’ll use to bore you.)
After a week, I have no complaints and think that Microsoft might be back in the game.
